Just won this estate Posella Tanshell Brandy which I am enthralled with, on eBay. But did not like what I had to pay for it
Length: 7 1/8" Height: 2 5/8" Chamber diameter: 7/8” Weight: 4.7 oz

I am thrilled to read this about Posella, from Pipedia:

"Not only is the Posella family business based in Calabria, the land of the best Italian briar, but the family has also been known for decades to be one of the most experienced suppliers of Calabrian briar. For this reason, all Posella pipes, with no exception, are made out of the best briar available in Calabria today, and considering the high quality of Calabrian briar, it is only logical to conclude that the Posella pipes are made out of the best briar in the whole wide world. In addition, most of the pipes produced today are made of briar that has been seasoning for at least 10+ years."

Thanks for sharing Goose. That is an enthralling pipe

I am just awe-struck at the work the Goose does on these pipes, AND his photography of them. Awesome to my thinking! Beautiful restoration,, and beautiful pipes. :D

Why thanks, bro. This pipe pictured, though, is the sellers images. It's an almost new pipe, smoked a couple of times.

My latest pipe acquisition. The Godzilla of all pipes. The mother of all pipes. A gorgeous blasted ring-grained Salvatore Posella, made from 10 year seasoned Calabrian briar. 7 inches long, 2 - 3/4 bowl height, 2 - 1/8 inch bowl width, 7/8th inch diameter chamber, 2 - 3/8th inches deep. I instantly loved this pipe, from the 1st moment I saw and held it! One can get lost smoking a bowl full of Virginia-Perique in this one!

But alas, perhaps this one is even too big for me. We shall see.

I have a soft spot for the brass bands. When I was a newbie 'baccanist (1993), I bought a 30. It is one of the fines smoking pipes I have ever owned.

After a month waiting on the package to arrive from South Africa I can finally post my newest addition. A Pietenpauw bent billiard with a military mount. It is not briar, it is hardekool or leadwood, very dense wood and allegedly hard to carve. I will christen it tonight after dinner.

I just scored two Peterson pipes for $15 each! That’s officially the best find I’ve ever had at an antique shop.
