a newbie's review :: Tatuaje Havana VI Angeles

Post by rawhide79 » Sun May 15, 2011 11:51 am

pre-light :: mild chocolate [wrapper] sweet hay/straw [foot]

burn :: good; couple minor corrections.

ash :: good [1.5"]

draw :: nice, if a little loose

smoke time :: 1 hr 10 min

strength/body :: medium-full [to my inexperienced palate]

flavor :: spicy at start...mildly sweet/spicy thru 1/3. spicy thru 1/2 way point. hint of cedar & gunpowder moving into last 3rd...purged here...then very nice caramelized sugar/creme brûlée & molasses/gingerbread thru finish.

overall :: for me, its an 88. definitely in my top 2 so far. comes in a close 2nd to Hemingway Short Story [my #1 thus far]...more flavorful than the Hemingway, but a bit harsher, and the aroma is not quite as nice; left a hint of cigarette on my hands. will smoke again in a different vitola.

I hate that rawhide gave up on us. For what it's worth, that Hemingway Short Story is one of my favorite cigars, too.
