Turning Green!!

Post by Haroldt » Fri Nov 27, 2015 5:47 pm

And it wasn't with envy.

I'm sure this has happened to others and I'm wondering if anyone knows why or what might cause this.

Last night while sitting on the back porch watching football in my "semi man cave" I was enjoying a cigar. It was a little stronger then I might normally do, but I like several pipe baccy's. Anyway as I'm getting about 3/4 into this, I began to feel a little ill. Being a man... I continued to smoke a little longer. Later I got up, felt flush, and looking in the mirror - lost all coloring in my face.

Is there a doctor in the house?? What would cause this?

I was enjoying a cigar a few months ago.... it was deceptively stouter than the rest of the box. And it cost me my cookies.

I have overdosed on nicotine exactly three times, enough to suffer a bit of nausea. And only that one time was I forced to submission before the porcelain throne.

Light weights.
This reminds me when TNLP got sick on a bubble pipe.

Del - funny what we'll do to not waste the $4 - 8 we spent/ Hell this morning I got ready to toss out the ash try and there sat the stub. Because I knew enough to quit last night (did not want to toss the cookies) I ended the smoke early. Dang, I can toss this out! So... I re-lit it. Normally I do not relight cigars (one more reason to smoke a pipe) But this one was actually good on the second day.

I would avoid La Flor Dominica cigars if I were you. Those things are nicotine land mines.

I got to initiate several young men to pipes and cigars -- friends of Pipeson and Cigarson.

Of course, they all wanted the monster stogies with the shiniest cigar bands.

I taught them to think of a cigar as a "single serving" of tobacco. If one is new to smoking, then start with a small serving.... "You'll spend less, and enjoy it more." A little talk about nicotine tox symptoms and some advice to just set it down and rest a bit... and the young men are off to grand adventure of tobacco enjoyment.

I've lost my dinner a few times with pipes, but most of the time I can smoke what I want to smoke regardless of high nicotine.
Cigars are another matter. Once my stomach turns over in that odd way I have about three seconds or one puff to spare, and if I don't put the cigar down, I'm running to the toilet to very likely make a deposit. I think that smoking a cigar brings more smoke into the mouth per unit of time, and if on that occasion for any number of physiological reasons my body is more sensitive.

Funny Mike. Well written story. Praise God, while I thought I was going to toss the cookies. I was able to sit back and relax. Feel asleep and was good again when I woke. As for pipes - C&D Old Joe Krantz can kick my ass if I'm not careful. It's a favorite, so I show Joe the respect he deserves.

Never smoke a 601 series cigar on an empty stomach. Think I could smell colors afterwards.

This is the key for me....if I am going to smoke...I eat something first....twice I have been enjoying a morning pipe and cup of coffee on an empty stomach and ...well it got ugly. So now I just avoid the issue and eat first just to get something in my stomach. I have never been sick from "N" if I was fed first.

Thank God I do not have that problem, Bloodhound. I start many mornings with the bible, coffee, and pipe. Perhaps you are missing the bible, brother???

Just don't smoke much in the morning...normally save it for evenings. Bible time is indoors and smoking time is outside.

Haddo's Delight does it to me. I keep it in a small pipe when I smoke it. That perique is a time bomb if you don't take care of it.
