Cigar lounge in the pacific NW?

Post by bilder » Mon Dec 19, 2016 3:39 pm

Do any of you gents know of a cigar lounge in the Oregon/Washington region?

Getting tired of smoking alone and a trip to a cigar lounge would be fun. However, we live in what is probably the most smoker hostile area of the country.

Just wondering if there is such a beast in these parts or if I am going to have to plan a trip eastward in order to enjoy a place where a man can enjoy a cigar and proper beverage without getting arrested.

I can't speak for Oregon, but it's against state law in Washington.

ETA: Apparently there are circumstances (not open to public and no employees, whether paid or not) where you could pull off a cigar lounge. It would be challenging to make it happen, but possible. See this AG Opinion for details.
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.

Oregon has similar laws, just curious if any were grandfathered in or if there is a private membership kinda place around.

Some of the indian casinos allow cigars, but not sure if any have a lounge type setting.

Wow. Weed on the streets, but no tobacco. We've lost our minds.

Come to the Moonbase, I have a pipe and cigar lounge in my apt.

Pants are optional.

It looks like there really are cigar lounges or bars in Oregon. The Oregon Indoor Clean Air Act actually has cigar bars listed as exceptions so they exist for sure. Check it out! Then go look for cigar lounges or bars in Oregon and you will be amazed.

As for feeling alone - it's time to start evangelizing for cigar and pipe smokers nearby. They are certainly there and just waiting for you to recruit them.
Jesus probably felt alone too and look what he did. Bilder cigar sermon on the hill. It's got to start somewhere.

You can smoke at Rich's in Portland but they don't have a lounge.

This is just in the Portland area...

And here is for the Salem area...

There are very likely more in other cities. Try all the cities near you and then call 'em up.

New bill proposes cigar lounges with unique employee requirements
the lounges would require all workers to be active smokers and on top of that every employee would have to provide a blood sample to prove that they still smoke
I'm not really fond of their approach (I'd prefer them just to have to sign an acknowledgement/waiver), but I'm glad somebody's thinking about this stuff.

In Oregon & Washington, you can't do what normal humans do.... But you can get high and kill yourselves.

You're guys are really Dutch, right?

To be fair, the marijuana laws are actually a bit stricter than the tobacco laws. Essentially marijuana can not only not be smoked any place that tobacco cannot be smoked, but it also cannot be smoked in public view (or smell) at all. It also cannot be smoked anywhere that is federally controlled or patrolled (e.g. National Forests/Parks or navigable waters).

Find yourself a K of C Hall. If I was in that situation, I would even become Catholic.

Start with a good Catholic buddy. We had a jolly "Pipe & Pints" session at our pastor's home on Sunday. One of our guys just returned from a tour in the Middle East with the National Guard. He wanted a bacon party. (I made jalapeño poppers, wrapped in bacon.)

Shut up, Del. You're not helping.

Kells downtown Portland location has a cigar lounge in the basement. Also, McMenamins Bagdad Theater off of Hawthorne has a cigar bar.

See how easy it is to answer a simple question when you're not a goddamn rube.

Sheez, I try to set the guy up for some cigar smokin, bingo, poker, softball, bbq-ing fellowship, and you guys want to send him down in some basement. Oh well. It IS Oregon, after all, I suppose.
