Flat Cigars

Post by Tatanka » Wed Jan 24, 2018 8:28 pm

I saw a bearded guy, called: "the Sultan of Silver" on YouTube smoking a flat cigar. About 3" or 3 1/2" long. About 1/2 inch wide and guessing 3/16" thick.
He rattled off the name so fast I did not catch it. It was the first such shape in a cigar I have ever seen or heard of. Is anyone familiar with the name of such a unique cigar? Anyone ever smoke one?

Those are called "prensado" or "box-pressed".

I like these, Pata de Elefante. Decent and affordable, when you can find them.

The cigars are rolled to size, then pressed in a rectangular mold. As UB said, they are "box pressed."

The box press is supposed to give a more even burn as the cigar is smoked. I believe it works.

Is it the same or similar as the square sticks I get sometimes from Oliva cigars?

Box-pressed cigars are cool to look at, but they feel awkward because I can't roll them in my fingers (fidget habit). I don't think I've ever had one burn even, either. Granted, I haven't smoked very many of them.

Could have also been an acid wafe. Not sure on dimensions but the thing is almost flat.
