McClelland PCCA Aurora

McClelland PCCA Aurora.

Ordered 26 Jan 10. Opened and tried first bowl 4 April 10.

Manufacturer: Mellow, rich mixture of naturally sweet red Virginia and a bit of black stoved lemon Virginias.

First VA review by DL Jake

Smoked several bowls over the weekend. Excellent. This blend was a defining moment in my VA tasting over the last year. My VA taste enjoyment is coming from Stoved and / or aged VAs. While I do enjoy the zest of youthful light VAs, I find that I prefer the mellowness from the aged. This is an any time of the day smoke, also does well in warmer weather.

I find the tin art is weird; almost C&D like, but I guess you can’t judge a book by the cover.

Blend presents similar to McC #5100, taste is also similar but more refined, has more depth, and has more nuance. The stoved yellow VAs are present and noticeable but not over powering. Fantastic shorter rough ribbon cut and moisture level from the tin was perfect for my taste. This is a VA that is not very complex and the smoke does not progress in the bowl as other VAs do.

If you are looking for complexity in your VA experience, this might not suite your taste.

DL Jake Rating is 4 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended.

I stocked up on several tins of this last Fall after trying one tin on Rusty's suggestion. Opened one of the tins recently and it's excellent after breathing for a couple weeks; shaking and popping the lid for a a couple minutes.

A delightful all Virginia blend. Very refreshing
