Dog ate my churchwarden...

Well, not quite.

I just got a new Nording Churchwarden from pipesandcigars.com and believe that they shipped the wrong pipe. I sent a customer service request Saturday and haven't heard anything back yet. Well, tonight as I'm working on some stuff for work I hear my dog chewing on something and look over to see her chewing on the stem of my pipe. Ugh...looks like I'm stuck with the wrong one now... :?

First world problems.

My dog ate my tobacco pouch once.

Once.

I'll bet your dog didn't have any worms after that!

That is why I don't have a dog. The kids are destructive enough. I just got a churchwarden from P&C. Haven't tried it yet, but it looks like it will be a great pipe.

Keep pipes and tobacco out of reach of children. ... and dogs.

My son-in-law says that his dog ate his pipe, too!

I have no doubt that my dog would do this if a pipe ever made it within his reach. He ate a very nice pair of custom in-ear headphones.

I had a dog that chewed up a vacuum tube amp. The output transformers were open frame, and he chewed through the paper and chewed the winding wires. He also pulled the antique tubes and chewed the bakelite bases.

#45 tubes; getting scarce, I was not happy. I almost wish it had been turned on. Then I would have had a "blown woofer".

We don't have a dog because I'm afraid my two kids would chew on it.

I used to have a Great Dane who ate anything he could get his giant mouth on. A short list... 5 packs of Big Red gum, an entire bag of M&M's, 3 -yes 3- couches (I have pictures), super spicy Jerk pork, and in keeping with the thread: a luxury pouch of Prince Albert. He was a great dog, just bored easily. My current dog (a Pit) is much better behaved, and to date has not chewed on anything we haven't specifically given him to chew on. Which is much to our thankfulness, because when he does get something to chew on, he destroys it.

Now there'd be a case of Man Bites Dog...

The same dog ate 2 pounds of chocolate he retrieved from the top shelf in our closet, an entire cake off the counter in the kitchen, a six-pack of microwave popcorn including the box (we later had corn sprouts in the back yard), and an entire leather topsider shoe (which he later deposited back onto the couch). He also got mad at me once and peed in my work boots and my book bag full of college texts.

Aside from these (and many other) events, he was the best dog I ever had. I'd take another one just like him right now.

My bride used venison burger to make homemade enchiladas. She had just taken them out of the oven and went to get the kids for supper. She walked into the kitchen to see the dog nose deep in my supper. He got half the steaming hit 13x9 pan of enchiladas eaten in the time it took my bride to walk half way down the stairs and back.

Time to remind the dog he isn't alpha.

This was a few years ago. Someone poisoned him with antifreeze. If I find out who I will remind that piece of filth who the alpha is.

That kind of stuff makes me want to go all primitive on people.

He was an AKC black lab. We rescued him from the shelter. The damn city made us get him fixed before bringing him home. His name was Charlie. He was a lap dog, and very gentle/patient with kids. He also chewed just about anything. LOL He turned my brand new genuine leather Thompson Chain Reference Bible into confetti...scattered all over the yard. I miss that nut.

Since then we rescued a lab/collie mix (Ebony) and a lab/husky mix (Bugsy). They are not really chewers. However, they will take shoes, or on rare occasions a singles piece of trash, out to the patio when they are upset about being left home alone. The collie was neglected, the husky was beat and starved. They have both become beloved members of the family.
