The part of the church where the silliest things happen. Conversations that sound like they belong in the youth room will be moved here.

There's a hundred and four days of summer vacation, and school comes around just to end it. The annual problem for our generation is finding a good way to spend it.

Hey! I resemble that remark.

I grew up in a part of the country where high school soccer was bigger than football.

Played college soccer at one of the great college soccer programs (friends insist I went there just to play soccer, not for the academics; I half agree with them) and now teach at a school that has won 3 DII national titles in soccer (over 20 in cycling) and has a football team so bad absolutely nobody goes to the games. I had the starting quarterback in one of my classes and had no idea he was the quarterback until he told me. Good kid. Got drafted by the Cardinals. Got some pre-season snaps at Mile High (a lifelong dream) then was let go.

Only reason I never started a thread about the virtues of soccer (football) over football (gridiron) is that I know this is a far more contentious subject than abortion, the Reformation, Hillary, the 2nd Amendment or even the Filioque!

I'm new here and want to stick around for a while.
Even now, my better instincts are screaming, "Don't hit the Submit button!"

But a man's gotta be a man . . . not a metro, for crying out loud, and have some heuvos.

Played soccer for MishiGan State.
And in spite of what some might think, we're 'Mericans!

Well dang it, hugodrax . . .
If this having so much in common keeps up, people are going to wonder if we're related.
Michigan State has a tremendous soccer tradition.

I played left wing. What position did you play?

Daughter #2 was a very good athlete. Until she fell out of a tree and broke her legs and cracked a few ribs and vertebrae. Only thing she could play (competitively) after that was soccer. Goal keeper.
