Indeed.
Notice the plastic knife? It's even better when a plastic knife is involved.
A classic - equally fit for a set table or a fishing boat.
My mom would always have the two on the table as a way to help fill-up her small herd of growing boys. I still crave it to this day.
Even better when you add a layer of room-temperature salted butter on top of the peanut butter and make a swirly mix of absolute gawd-damned-american-goodness.

That reminds me of the time, perhaps 25 years ago, when an F-117 flew over the Independence Day celebration in my hometown. The thing was freaky low & quite as it followed the river in to town, but the pilot hit the coals and shot upward when he got over the park packed with revelers. The noise was AWESOME and I'm sure it rattled the windows of nearby homes. A few days later the newspaper published a letter to the editor from a woman complaining about the exhibition. She wondered why organizers "felt the need to insert the military in the Fourth of July celebration".

The tents and umbrellas flying through the air and posing a deadly threat was totally worth that reaction.

The story is about as American as it gets.
1. People gathered in a public park for the Independence Day celebration. Bands, ice cream, the whole she-bang.
2. Bad ass military airplanes.
3. Crowds cheering the bad ass military airplane.
4. A (liberal?) lady takes offense.
5. She writes a letter.
6. The local newspaper publishes it.
7. The next few days bring more letters saying she has a right to voice her misplaced opinion.
7. The guys with the bad ass military airplanes do not knock on her door and she does not disappear.
