Do You Wear or Carry a Watch?

Far more accurate colors on the watch face.
Very happy with the higher quality band.
An old school Cross ballpoint pen, I like it. Just don’t let the boys in the fountain pen thread find out or you will never hear the end of it.
My brother gave it to me.

Great photo. I like all the complications on that chronograph and the orange details. I tend to like off color second hands and details, especially red second hands.

My next quest is going to be for an old school Bulova Accutron tuning fork. My dad used to wear a Bulova and the hypnotic smooth sweep of the second hand along with a quite hum instead of a tic seems very appealing to me.

Hey, durangopipe, I think I'm with watches where you are with fountain pens.

I was jogging and working in the yard this week and while a nice analog chronograph is cool and works and all, it's just not easy to read on the move. And I don't want to bugger the nice ones up so I bought this Casio for around $20. I get the cheap, easy-read digital time/chrono numbers with the benefit of old school analog hands that help me picture the current time in relation to the whole day.
Image

Also, I couldn't stay away from the Bambino. Your post did me in. All of my watches are sport or casual. I did not have a dress watch, per se, so now I do. I got the cream dial/blue hands.
Image

I love Japanese watches. On day I hope to own a Grand Seiko Spring Drive. One Day.

Oh dear, Cleon.
I just saw this!

Orient Bambinos are like potato chips . . .
You know the rest.

From what I’ve read, and from personal experience, it’s the best automatic watch under $500 - and you can usually find them for around 1/4 to 1/3 of that.

I bought the brown and rose gold ver. 4, initially.
Awhile later I saw the blue “Bauhaus” 2nd gen. ver. 3 on sale and got one. It became my most worn watch:

Potato chips. Can’t have just one. Or two . . .

I love the cream face with the Roman Numerals. Blue hands are a killer! Did you buy it?

(Not wanting to put this in the confessions thread, where it clearly belongs, I thought I might hide it here where only watch buffs will find it.)

I’ve been smoking my pipes lately instead of browsing pipe retailers. Good.
Instead, I’ve been browsing watch retailers. Bad.

Pulled the trigger on this quartz Chronograph today:

Street price is usually $200-$250. Jomashop has them listed for $199 on their website, but they must be overstocked. They’ve currently got them on sale for $62.50 (free shipping) on eBay:

More potato chips.
I confess.

In my view of the world, a man needs a good watch. This is the one I got a few years back. I still like it a lot, although I have been tempted to buy more since then. I had started to follow a couple of Instagram pages about watches that were really awesome. But they're all very expensive, so I think I'll just keep this one. I may start to collecting / restoring vintage ones one day.

I've got a thing for flight watches and Seikos, I know. This one is at the top end of my size range at 42mm. I love the domed glass. It is my most hefty watch. Definitely has some weight to it.

This thread is re-awakening my WAD...I must be careful. I have watches I don't wear and 2 that need work that are sitting on my bench...along with many other projects I thought I would get done last winter.

I will resist and instead work at wearing the watches I have...yea I don't believe it either...

Good sale on William L 1985 watches at worldofwatches.com.
I got an email with the offer: use code WOWL60 to get 60% off and free shipping.

This chronometer, for example, lists for $189, street price around $140, sale price $55.99!

In the midst of all the fire craziness, the top watch pictured above arrived today in the mail . . .

Image

packed along with this very nice travel case!

What a deal! I couldn't help myself.
Sale ends at midnight here, and I’m sorely tempted to order another before it ends.

The watch is just flat out gorgeous. The band is very high quality, which was a nice surprise.

I’ll try to make some photos when things settle down around here.
