I never look at my phone for the time...its there I know it will display the time...I just am used to looking at my wrist when I want to know the time. I had the same issue when I carried a pocket watch...kept looking at my wrist. Also a watch is like a pocket knife. I like to wear a different watch each day and carry a different knife...just makes it interesting to change it up some
Although, when I come home from school, on days when I’m puttering around the house working on things or doing “chores” I’ll change into “work clothes,” put on a beater watch and typically stick the same, old Schrade gunstock trapper in my pocket. The watch and knife show some wear and I don’t mind a bit if they pick up some more.
I’ve been looking at my wrist to see the time and reaching into my pocket for a folding knife for so long I feel “undressed” without either of them.
Watches and knives are a bit like pipes. I have “beaters” and special (to me - nothing particularly expensive) watches, knives and pipes. I don’t mow the lawn, work around the house, walk the dog in the woods or go fishing with any pipe I’d hate to break or lose. But when I “dress up” I like to carry a nice pipe, wear a nice watch and carry a nice knife. When I was able to smoke at work I’d often take something special up to campus to show to a colleague who’d do the same.
The spice of life.
