Haven't worn a watch in many decades. I use a sun dial.

Oh man. If I had to rely on a sundial I’d never make it to class on time!

Most were inherited or gifts. I did purchase the Omega in Switzerland on a ski racing excursion after learning that a Rolex was beyond my means. I had just mustered out of the Signal Corps and was pretty well off for a single guy, but not that well off, I wore it flying for decades, It needs servicing, but servicing these things is deucedly expensive and no one in the US seems to be able to make lasting repairs (even the US Omega service center) so it sits in a drawer until I can travel to Switzerland again.
I don't think they make the batteries for my Accutrons anymore (one was my dad's) at least the last time I checked they didn't.
The Eddie Bauer(a gift from my late sister) and the Timex (a gift from my bride) are the ones I usually wear, or I carry one of the Walthams if I'm dressed accordingly.

What did you do with the Patek Philippe with the Czar's cypher set in diamonds presented to you by the Grand Duchess Olga Bullshitskaya for that time you and the sheriff's posse saved her from the Bulgarian agent, Nastikoff, and his gang of goons?

You promised to treasure that forever. I'll never forget your casual note of acceptance...the phrase "baguetelles for a mere baguetelle" having particular resonance. I hope you haven't pawned it.

My preferred watch is the Citizen. I wore it working jails, Ft. Sill, Ft. Gordon, Ft. Bragg, all over Afghanistan, State Troopers, ... and then after earning my MBA, my wife said I needed a classier looking watch. ... I still haven't found one that can replace this one.

When I graduated I took the money I was given and bought an Omega Seamaster 120. About 12 years ago I had a car blow an engine and need cash so said buy to the watch. Sad for a bit, but, it was just a watch. Last year I stumbled upon a Citizen EcoDrive Professional Diver at an estate sale and grabbed it for $30 bucks. I no longer dive, but, this thing is built like a tank and I don't have to worry about breaking it.

I think it’s something that has to be done to the watch so that the newer batteries will work. There’s only a handful of jewelers that work on these watches anymore as I understand it.

it's probably a conversion to use nickel buttons then, as the Wein cell substitute doesn't work.
A good reason to stick with mechanical watches, eh?

I have a Casio that I bought 15 years ago. It is a WaveCeptor and it automatically updates...or it is supposed to. A couple of years ago the battery finally expired and I got a new battery. Since then it doesn't re-set at Daylight savings...so I have been unable to wear it for 6 months.

OK I need to get out the instructions or send it to Casio...yup lazy and I have other watches to wear...I also have one that I need to have a link or 2 removed from the band so it fits.

Carry? No; I own several pocket watches, but I never carry one. I like the "idea" of a pocket watch and the time and period one evokes (Early in the last century nostalgia was considered a mental disorder.) but I don't find them practical.

Wear? Yes. Early in my life, I wore Casio G-Shocks, I owned 8-10 over the years. About 14 years ago. my bride brought me a Citizens Eco-Drive for our 10th anniversary. Once I got enough links installed to get it on my wrist, I wore it daily. All the years I wore a G-Shock, only guys commented on my watch, but once I got this spiffy analog watch, I got comments weekly from women even. Now my wife buys me a watch every couple of years for Christmas or our Anniversary and I rotate through them regularly. I have Citizens, Seikos, and Pulsars in my collection, I've looked at some of the higher-end brands, but I can't buy anything that costs more than the first car I paid for by myself without a lot of consternation. $500 (1973 Chevelle Laguna, ugliest green GM ever used.).

I've learned to work on the links and bands myself, I send them back to the company if the back has to be opened. I prefer an eco-drive type watch (solar), batteries are annoying and self-winding watches are only good if you wear them every day.
