Great lines in Rock

Post by GaryInVA » Thu Apr 12, 2018 6:35 pm

This thread is to list what you consider to be great lines in rock songs.

I'll start, B52s "Dance This Mess Around" has the following line.

"Why don't you dance with me, I'm not no Limburger!"

Kind of stinks, don't it?
Del's the cheese whiz in these parts, so I'll wait for his verdict lol!

I'll go with "Shut up and dance with me"

Not one of my favorite songs, but I always thought one of the coldest lines ever was from Martin Briley in 1983:

"But I won't cry for the wasted years, 'Cause you ain't worth the salt in my tears"
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal

Just take those old records off the shelf
I'll sit and listen to 'em by myself
Today's music ain't got the same soul
I like that old-time rock 'n' roll

Dawn like an angel, lights on the step
Muting the morning she heralds
Dew on the grass, like the tears the night wept
Gone long before, the day wears old
I'm old but I'm happy. (Most of the time.)

Reach out your hand if your cup be empty,
If your cup is full may it be again,
Let it be known there is a fountain,
That was not made by the hands of men.

I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment
I could be you
Yes, I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
You'd know what a drag it is
To see you
