Television sets were full of tubes like these. Also children acted as the remote.

Kids could play with these without reprisal from "concerned" adults:

Of course they'd have been made of chrome plated cast metal. Without the goofy orange tips 'cause nobody supposed that a child would be carrying a real gun around intending to do harm.
I remember taking a chrome plated die cast version to my elementary school "Western Night' (where we were encouraged to dress in Western attire). I also remember shooting some caps off at someone in the hallway that night and nobody thought anything of it. That was in the early 70s when men were men and boys were boys.

Great fun.

Load it with caps, toss it in the air and wait for it to land on a hard object.

What could go wrong?

I also know the meaning of LS./M.F.T. I also remember our juvenile interpretation.

I remember most of these, plus:
Hai Karate commercials.
The Banana Split Show.
Replacement bicycle hand grips with glitter in the rubber.
Toughskins pants.
Sitting in Daddy's lap and steering the truck.
The Charles Chips truck.
I saw Aaron play in right field at Fulton County Stadium.
Men smoking on the church steps between Sunday School and preaching.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal

I remember when Alaska and Hawaii were territories
and when our family's first ever television set, the second tv set on our block, was delivered. :P
