This won't hurt anyone but a poor abused girl, folks affected the spray-paint fumes over San Francisco, and the environment.

I never had a sister. I would have liked to have had a sister like Greta.

She would certainly need to have a very special brother!

I find her a tragic figure---that's not something little girls should be.
That activists can groom her into a personality that is being celebrated with a four story creepy cartoon is one of the more bizarre events of 2019
but that this happened in San Francisco isn't a surprise.

There's nothing new in this girls message. Remember the ecology flag?

wiki wrote: Ecology flags showed up many places in the 1970s. One of the earliest recorded flyings of an actual Ecology Flag was in 1971. As a 16-year-old high school student, Betsy Boze, an environmental advocate and social activist, made a 3 x 5 foot green and white "theta" ecology flag to commemorate the first Earth Day (then called Ecology Day). Initially denied permission to fly the flag at C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, Vogel sought and received authorization from the Louisiana Legislature and Louisiana Governor John McKeithen in time to display the flag for Earth Day
Young people (since the days when I was a young person anyway) have always been worried about the state of the world our elders will leave us. What is new is how much weight is being afforded to this young person and how so many adults have agreed to be condemned or at least criticized by her. She's a 16 year old girl from a tiny European country. Why do I care what she thinks? Hell, I don't care what anybody in Sweden thinks, least of all their teenagers.

When the lasers were first activated, they immediately targeted the carbon-emitting hydraulic cranes and aerosol paint sprayers used to create the mural. The glitch has since been fixed.

In 60 years, is that mural still going to be there to remind future generations of how silly we were being in the early 21st century?

I hope Greta comes to visit San Fransico when she's 75.

Greta does not like you and your enormous carbon footprint that is destroying the world as you type.

I neither like nor dislike Greta. She is a young woman who was permitted to allow her idealism to take over her life and the lives of others around her. Her parents allowed her to skip school and change the family menu. The adults in her life seemed to need her to raise them in their indolence and lack of fortitude. She has been encouraged to continue in her unbalanced view probably because those around her don’t know better themselves.

On one hand we have the need to be good stewards of our environment, on the other, we need jobs and the means to create energy to fuel jobs and the economy. Greta is half right IMHO. She’s also half wrong. Like so many in our present society of extremism, the various activists are too busy condemning huge portions of society. And in Greta’s case, she has the time to sail around the world preaching her idea of utopia while people in the third world are trying desperately to eat and drink as they walk with heavy burdens.

Greta strikes me as being a tragic figure.
Of course we need to be good stewards, but
radicals have found in her a sacrificial persona for a socialistic environment movement.
I find it terribly sad to see a young girl being used as a poster child for nihilism.
