Now is the time to panic

The part of the church where the silliest things happen. Conversations that sound like they belong in the youth room will be moved here.

Wisconsin grocery stores are limiting to just one gallon of milk per visit.

All of the whole milk is gone.

There was story on the front page of our local newspaper about the spike in gun sales. The photo along with the story showed a woman who was “buying her first gun.” She was holding a beat up looking home defense style 12 gauge with a short barrel and an extended magazine - and a long scope.

She had it mounted rather awkwardly and was squinting to look through the scope, and the clerk behind her had a huge smile on her face like the cat that ate the canary.

What a great opportunity for the local gun shops to unload all of the weirdly put together used guns they’d taken in trade that have been sitting in their racks, unsold, forever!

My cousin - the addict who says he's 4 months clean but still hangs with questionable people - texted me this morning asking if I had a handgun I'd sell his buddy. Seems the guy's background check is taking longer than normal, and besides, Cabela's has closed.

My local butcher shop was well stocked with bacon, and Costco had ready cooked bacon when I was there yesterday. Just sayin'

Good idea! Maybe now's the time to unload (sorry) all of the old klunker shotguns I have around here? Perhaps use them as trade-in items for a nice pistol or shotgun at one of the shops.

I went to the local market early this morning and there was everything we needed except tp, paper towels, and any kind of handi-wipes. Lots of meats, veggies, fruits, canned soups, but just a few loaves of bread and a few bags of rice. Oh, and no bags of flour. Been making homemade bread lately, but the bad thing is that my wife and I end up eating a whole loaf in short order! Hard to resist fresh homemade bread.
I'm old but I'm happy. (Most of the time.)

Maybe this hoarding and bad decision making by members of society is why some governmental folks are all talking about taking about, what ends up being, government compulsion.

In Southern California:

The neighbors tell me the stores here have fresh produce, but not much else. Meat, bread, flour gone. I have enough for now, but I think my neighbors are in a bit of trouble. I offer to help, but they are refusing so far. I’m getting concerned that if the shelves don’t refill soon people are going to start getting restless. Regardless, I want to avoid the lines, which means I might actually start fishing for food since I live by the ocean. Hop on my bike when the tides are right and see what I can catch. All those fish I used to release would taste just fine in a fish taco. We have plenty of rice, beans and flour.

I’m just hoping that things will normalize in a week or two. But I’m certainly rationing the meat we have now, which is quite a bit really. I’m glad we harvested some deer this past year. I didn’t think we would actually be in a position like this during the deer season.

Regarding TP - Mrs FredS buys it as if we still had three daughters living at home. Since there's really only the two of us, the 20+ rolls we already had in the cabinet will last a year.
