That's what I said, "a vehicle for eating other more delicious foods". Foods such as butter, cheese, peanut butter, etc. It's those that make a sandwich delicious and flavorful. The bread is just something to put the good stuff on so you cram it in your mouth without getting all greasy and making a mess. Eat a plain unsalted cracker (which is just bread) and see if I'm wrong. Then put some cheese, bacon and a jalapeno on another one and try again. Bread is nothing more than an edible spoon. I remain unconvinced.
