Years ago I help lead out in classes to help people kick the habit. One simple thing the doctors emphasized was to drink lots of water. Water "helps" flus nicotine from the system, - thus "minimizing" the urge. I know this may be impossible or highly impractical if you are working or in public, but if home, you might try it...to see if it helps.
Another "where it hits hardest!" ... I'm basing these figures on what the doctors said, but why question medical advice? The hardest urge to smoke a cig lasts from one to about 3 minutes. Take it one minute at a time. Say, "I CHOOSE not to smoke for 60 seconds!" Watch a clock. IF it's still there. REPEAT....for 60 seconds! If it's still screaming: Do it one more time:60 seconds: "I choose not to smoke for 60 seconds!" And JUST DO IT. The strongest URGE "should" have melted enough that you can take some deep breaths and focus on something else.
I hope they help when you're insides are knawing away! Meanwhile, I, too, am praying for you. With Christ we can DO ALL THINGS! With GOD (that's the key!) ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!
