Pet Peeves

The part of the church where the silliest things happen. Conversations that sound like they belong in the youth room will be moved here.

- Health "experts" who call salt "sodium." People who call salt "sodium" should be forced to eat sodium on their french fries.

- Health "experts" who teach my children that "too much sodium" is the greatest health concern facing America today. My daughter now insists that we shouldn't use any "sodium" when cooking. My aunt, who has her doctorate in nursing and has done a great deal of research into dietary salt, tells me that too much salt isn't really a concern unless one already has a complicating condition (hypertension, etc.).

Taxes.

I sent a care package to Baines down under. The goons are charging him over $40 per tin in taxes. A gift has become a burden to him and I'm angered.

Insane. Truly insane.

I have developed a new pet peeve. We have a local weatherman that every time (and I mean every time) he reads the percent change of rain he says, "X% of us will see rain..." Today we have a 90% chance of rain for our area. He actually said, "90% of us will see rain...really, all of us will see rain but we couldn't put 100%."

I want to slap him. In addition, I want to administer a Morley-esque reckoning.

People talking over other people in meetings.

This gets me to a DEFCON-Morley level of rage.

Is this really a problem for you? How many people get close enough to diagnose you one way or the other? Surely you've developed a rapport with the treatment team by now.

Really clever memes with spelling or grammatical errors that make it so you can't, in good conscience, share them.

People that walk the longest diagonal across a parking lot drive lane to get to their car. The shortest (and least disruptive) distance across the lane is at right angles!!!!!

People who stand at crosswalks with no intention of crossing....or who stand there for a while not crossing and then suddenly take off across the street without looking first.
