Are you using a clear coat of some kind or do you sand them to a shine? I'm trying to figure out my finishing.

sanded to 2,000 grit, stain, then 2000 grit again. Then tripoli, white diamond, and wax to finish. This one is definitely my nicest finish.

I finally listened to Fred and slowed my RPMs on the wheel for buffing

After 2 months I finally started another one. Good start for me!

So, of course, it's me, and you knew there was a but coming (and like yer mom, this is a big butt)

Image

I just started turning the shank and the entire block decided to break from the jaws and hit me in the face. Usually i wear a full face shield, but this time just had glasses on. Luckily just a small bruise. Guess I'll try my hand at rustication.

Seriously, one time everything will go right ... right?

I've come back to look at this several times. I'm intrigued.

Wow, thanks Wayne. Stay tuned ... I'll mess it up yet! But at least I'm improving in the rough shaping stages :D

Internal alarm wouldn't let me sleep so I finished off this pipe this morning. It is walnut, and my very first stem. As always there is plenty wrong but I don't care Image

Rejoice in a pipe finished. Smoke it...smoke it real good (that's my thing now.) Now go make another.

Had a brief break in with STM. Smokes pretty well! Wife made me clean the house though instead of making another :(
