Jim, the first step to getting over your addiction is to admit there is a problem.

Got some leather dye on your middle finger did ya? I've had it with oompa lumpa fingers and finally started using gloves. That stummel is looking NICE!

I bought a box of gloves. They sit right on top of my work bench underneath the basket that holds my stains. I've used them once.

There ya go.

I see a lot of mechanics (is that you joegoat?) wearing blue gloves these days. In my day they'd have been run out of the shop if they wore gloves for anything less than working with acid. (Says the guy who's had some sort of mild eczema on his hands for the last 35 years that could have maybe been avoided if he wore the damn gloves.)

I'm an airplane mechanic. That industry is filled with all kinds of methyl ethyl bad stuff. I've moved to maintenance control now so I'm at a desk
where the worst chemical I need be concerned with is printer toner or day old coffee. I've always worn gloves when possible, but sometimes you need to feel what you're working on because it's around the corner, in the back, and in the dark and gloves get in the way of that.
