I like the aubergine color of the stem
Looks purplish to me. Is it acrylic?
Nah, it’s SEM. It’s eggplant colored. So you are right about it being purple.

You’re a good man, JMG. That all gave me a pretty good chuckle this morning.

That is no slight to the one that blasted it for me (I had to outsource) I should have left more meat. However, I'm happy overall. And as far as billiards go, this is a better one for me. Can't sell this pipe due to the flaw, but I sure look forward to smoking it...after I stain and finish it that is.

Yeah, because without a shank, I would think the briar and labor expense would be much, much less. This Mummert fellow is capitalizing big time! A novelty, he's planned that they'll be a sales rush of gullible folk.

Think again buddy. I can tell you've never worked in a manufacturing trade. The maker had to counter bore the stummel to perfectly fit the glass tube, then turn the stem for a slip fit, then cut a couple o-ring groves in the stem to the right depth so they don't make the fit too tight in the glass tube, then knurl a short briar accent ring - !KNURL A BRIAR ACCENT RING! - then put it all together without scratching anything. It's not an easy job.

Why I designed mine with so many step-downs on the shank, I have no idea. However, this definitely was a tough one to make fit properly...especially on a wood lathe.
