The Abomination...

Post by JMG » Sat Oct 06, 2018 9:55 pm

I've got some touch ups, stamp and bowl coat, but this absurdity is pretty much done. Honestly, given the amount of handwork on the lathe this took, despite how ridiculous it is, I'm pretty proud of it.

You should be proud. That's a pretty cool pipe.

Thought it would be cool to see the smoke. And I attempted this a couple years ago and failed, so I wanted to see if I could pull it off.

I want to see it in action. Somebody buy it and post a video.

I really want to see it too. It's hard not to fire it up.

Well done! This one is not my cup of tea but I appreciate the craftsmanship to get that thing done. With that being said, I'd love to smoke it once to see it in action.

That is intriguing, I don’t know that I would want to own it, but it would be cool to observe!

Can you take the clear extension and make it like a short snow globe? That'd be neato.

If you don't do a good job of cleaning your pipes regularly, this pipe will lose much of it's visual appeal.
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.

Snow globe resolves this in spades.

As your snow globe shank pipe ages, you'll see it transition from peaceful grey skies spitting snow to deep midnight blackout blizzard conditions.

Again. Neato factor.

I saw that today too. I have proof that I tried this clear shank a couple years ago (I just failed miserably then) Werner copied me and therefore should give me at least 200 of the 700 bucks he is selling that thing for. I think I may have posted my first attempt here on CPS, but it's been quite some time ago.

Many of the MM cob pipes have an amber stem that is transparent. It's not all that pretty seeing all the condensation collecting.

I've got some MM stems that started off a really nice pretty transparent amber, and have now darkened quite a bit after +30 bowls smoked. I'm guessing that the clear shank on The Abomination will not remain clear for long.
