Qualifying for SSD can be an added pain. Most I have seen have had to resort to a law firm specializing in SSD. I actually know of an excellent law firm if ever you would be interested. PM me and I can give you contact information

In the meantime, prayers up for you in this matter.

Yeah, I do expect it to be denied the first two times and hope it will get appealed the first time. You're right about it being an added pain. I typed a 5 page sympton history and really should have applied a long time ago and not delayed getting treatment. Looking over what I had been through made me even more depressed. The first 8 months, I didn't laugh at all.

I know about not being able to laugh. I think it is also due to the times in which we live.

Initial decision will be 3-6 months. Statistically, it will prob denied twice and then have to go to an administrative law judge. I guess that's when they get affidavits from friends and family.

It doesn't have to take that long. Mine was denied first time out, then approved upon my making a request for reconsideration. There's no real predicting. However, I very strongly urge you to get an attorney who specializes in this field. It won't cost you anything out of pocket--his fee is taken from the first cheque (which is retroactive to some months before your initial application date). It's a percentage (I forget how much) or $6000, which ever is less. This is very important to the success of almost any application, and since you're applying on psychological grounds, a really critical element. From the SSA's point of view, anyone an claim depression or PTSD; not everyone can claim something visibly verifiable, like an amputation or blindness.

I had to go through the detailed recitation, and it hit all my triggers too. This is one point where they could be more sensitive, but it's also understandable that they aren't. I'm sorry you're having to endure everything all over again.

I am already looking for a lawyer. Biggest problem will be getting them to agree to the onset date in the first quarter of 2013. Family and friends saw some of the trauma and my behavior afterwards.
