Biopsy tomorrow

Post by Steverino » Sun Nov 19, 2017 4:05 pm

Some of you know that back in August and September I was having some trouble with kidney stones. That has passed (no pun intended) for now but other issues still plague me.

In addressing the results of the CT scan I had when the kidney stone was active, I have had two blood tests in succession that show a significantly higher PSA level than is considered normal. These were 5.57 ng/dl and 5.81 ng/dl, whereas normal is considered to be no higher than 4.0 ng/dl. The result of this is that I am having a prostate biopsy tomorrow (Monday, 11-20-17) at 8 a.m. Not looking forward to it but felt I should proceed with it since my dad had a bad time with prostate cancer. I am told that the results could take up to two weeks so more hurry up and wait. I cannot tell you how much I would appreciate your prayers for me as I undergo the procedure tomorrow. (It's the procedure itself that concerns me, not so much the results, although that too, to a lesser extent). I keep telling myself that, this time tomorrow, it will all be over and done with (theoretically) but it doesn't seem to help. As always, thank you so much.
Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isaiah 55:6,7 ESV

Got back home from the biopsy a little after 10 a.m. Thank God it's over with. Now some of you may be interested in the gory details in the event that you have to have one of these someday; if you are you can PM me and I'll go through it there for you. To sum up here, the procedure was probably not the most terrible thing you'll ever have done but it won't be your favorite either. It turned out that my prostate was a little off from where it should have been (more toward posterior than anterior) which was not a surprise to me since I already knew my gall bladder was in the wrong place and my heart is slightly off from the classical location. I go back in two weeks to hear the results and plan further "activities".

So I guess my advice to anyone contemplating a prostate biopsy would be thus: If anyone offers you the choice of having a prostate biopsy or cleaning out the inside of the tank on a sewage truck with a toothbrush, take the tank.

Thank you all so much for your prayers.
