In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.

Re: Surgery and Recovery
Thank you all for the prayers!
Thankfully we didn't have to stay in the hospital for over the weekend like we initially imagined. The surgery, insofar as I can tell and gather from the ortho team (we never did get to meet with the surgeon afterwards) was successful, but we won't be fully sure until the casts come off. She goes back in three weeks to get new casts she'll wear for three more weeks. Once she starts the physical therapy process is when I think we'll know more for sure.
But, amazingly, she's been pain free since she woke from surgery. Whether that's attributable to the meds (which she's almost off of) or her condition (spina bifida...perhaps not having the ability to feel pain in certain areas) I don't know, but last year's surgery left her in a good deal of pain so we'll take it. Now it's just sitting around with two giant leg casts which is not really fun for any 8 year old. But she's in good spirits. (But pray that our backs hold out for the constant stooping and lifting!)
Thanks again.
