My Darling Lamb of a Wife...

Post by JMG » Sun Dec 23, 2018 9:51 pm

Poor girl...she apparently had bought me my favorite bottle of Scotch for Christmas and had been hiding it in her van for a while. Tonight I was in my workshop and heard her shutting the door to the van (workshop is under the carport) and then I heard a loud crash and glass breaking. I bolted outside to see her sitting on the concrete with her face in her hands sobbing. Beside her the broken bottle of Scotch. That poor girl. I just held her for about 10 minutes while we sat on the ground. I told her it was just a "thing" and she was my wife and that the only thing I cared about was her being happy. She told me it made her happy to give it to me. I tell you what fellas, I've got one fantastic bride.

Pray for my girl. She's too dern hard on herself.

Praying. Your family rocks, man. I’m sad for her and happy for you both all at the same time.

I suppose that was the right thing to do.

But damn, couldn't it have been the jar of cashews?

I think the greatest gift she could have given was the tears, sir. It's a beautiful beautiful thing when a heart breaks for the right reasons.

Praying that never, ever changes for either of you.

I'm sure it's not my own. But your story reminded me of the Gift of the Magi, by O. Henry. Theres something about a real, chosen, and meant gift that's breathtaking, whether or not you can use it.
