Update:
My daughter-in-law Laura had more testing and exams yesterday to evaluate her condition and that of baby Russell. Both are stable so it was decided to continue with the pregnancy for now.

To reduce stress on both, a c-section birth is scheduled for February 1st.

Baby Russell could have no developmental problems or minor or major. This will not be known until after he is born.

We live in suburban Philadelphia and they are being treated at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). This is literally one of the very best hospitals in the world. We are so fortunate to have access to that level of skill.

I am deeply touched and humbled that even though I am not well known on the forum and do not contribute frequently you all offer your prayers for my family.

I will keep you informed on their condition.

Continued prayers are most appreciated.

I am so sorry folks, I forgot to update you on Laura and Baby Russell.

Both had another day of examinations on Tuesday of this week. Both are stable and the medical team decided to leave Baby Russell in Mother Laura for now. The full status of Baby Russell will not be known until he is born.

A c-section delivery is scheduled for February 1.

Continued prayers are most appreciated.

Laura had some more exams & tests yesterday. Results were not conclusive so she was admitted into the hospital out of caution. C-section delivery is scheduled for today.

The condition of Baby Russell is still unknown. He will be evaluated immediately after birth.

My son Alex (Baby Russell's father) will be in the delivery room. Wow, that would not have happened 30 years ago when Alex was born.

We remain hopeful and trusting of the amazingly skilled medical team and our Heavenly Father.

Russell David Barra Thompson
2019-01-31, 12:50PM
8 lb 4oz

Apgar 9

He is beautiful. Early assessments he looks normal. The medical team will be assessing over the next few days. We were able to hold him. All responses to stimuli seem normal.

I am sending this from my phone and I cannot figure out how to attach a photo.

Will update when I get more info.

God bless Russell & Laura & Alex.
