Big Surgery/Hard Recovery

Post by tuttle » Mon Sep 16, 2019 1:09 pm

My daughter has had a lot of surgeries over the last few years, all surgeries on your child are big, but in reality some aren't as worrisome as others. She's going to have a pretty big one tomorrow (9/17), life altering (not in an extreme way, but very much a big change...for the better, more independence, etc.).

There's some risk in every surgery. This one is going to have a lot of reconstruction (lot's of 'rewiring' and 're-purposing' some internals) and we've been told by doctors and everyone who's experienced it that recovery is flat out horrible. We've been told to basically expect things to be really bad before things get back to normal.

While things are subject to change, as of now the plan is for her to recover for about a week in the hospital and then somewhere around a month at home.

I don't know if we're mentally/spiritually/physically ready for it, but it's coming regardless.

So I'd ask that you take what you will from all that and please pray.

I'll try to update when I can.

Blessed Mother, lend your loving care to your little one -- RNOL -- and to her family.

St. Luke, physician and Evangelist -- intercede for us and guide the doctors with wisdom.

Heavenly Father, we ask through our Lord Jesus, the One Mediator of Your gifts and mercy.

Amen.
