Nice Scan of an early 20th C. Peterson Catalog

I saw this referenced on another forum and I've been meaning to post it here. There is a lot of interesting info about the shape numbers and the stem designators. Plus it's an interesting look at Peterson's native style. There is also a whole page with recommendations on colouring meerschaums. Fascinating stuff!

The catalog is backwards so you have back up through the scans to read the catalog in order.

That's the kind of link that could waste a good couple hours.

Ah yes. Like a fine glass of port and a good bowl of tobacco on a blustery night.

Hey, I knew Chuck!
He was a trucker from Bakersfield (Tatanka's stomping ground, IIRC) He retired to the Carolinas and sadly passed away not too long ago. He sent me a Peterson pin and I sent him some rustic tampers I made from fruit wood.
A swell guy and a genuine Peterson aficionado. I miss him.

Here's another set of historical Peterson catalogues...

The first is claimed to be from approx. 1910 and it has many of their standard classic shapes but the shape numbering appears to vary depending upon the line.

Here's another, more recent, it claims to be from 1965 and it's surprising how thin their line is at the time. Pipe lines that were prominent in the early 70's are missing even in 1965. However, one can see the stability in their shapes. We recognize the shapes. It's definitely a modern era catalogue.
