Post about everything from carrying a handkerchief to manly skills (sharpening a pocket knife, etc.) to product reviews of items that may have slipped under our radar (e.g. - Grandpa's Pine Tar soap). No threads on anything "new" unless it harkens to old-fashioned sensibilities and ideals.

Check this out:
If I ever needed a hard hat for a job again, I think I’d order one of these:
ANSI approved and available in silverbelly!
Of course, I’d put a decent hatband on it.
I'd go for the 80's mega feather band.

I shall consider the feather band.

I did it. Today I received my first Stetson. A 6x Silverbelly Open Road. I'm very excited. Last week my grand daughter pushed me over the edge by authorizing hats at her wedding in April. I mean I can't wear a cheap hat to her wedding, right?
I'm on my way to sell a kidney now.

That's high praise for dad, right there. He makes that hat look good, too.

Warm weather is here, so I swapped my tweed 8 panel cap for a cotton fabric one, and my black Resistol for a light colored Panama.
I have a choice between two old boonie hats for yard work---one ex-Army (green) which I kept, the other a light tan from Costco
I really need to get a replacement Fedora some day.

I'd like a straw hat that won't get damaged in the rain. And big enough for my head.

Not sure what style you seek, but the
Akubra Country Club is polypropylene straw. Mine has been rain soaked several times and still looks great.

What sort of gentlemen wear what type of hat and for what purpose? Talk freely about this. I need some new hats/caps but not sure what I want yet.
For years, I wear two hats: a white breathable linen (or is it cotton?) hat during the summer,
...and a black wool cap during the winter.
Both of these were hand made by Peotr Sterkowski over in Warsaw, Poland (great guy!).
Oh, I did wear one other hat very recently.
But I only bought it to stir up some local strife.
