Do you know your hat size?

Post about everything from carrying a handkerchief to manly skills (sharpening a pocket knife, etc.) to product reviews of items that may have slipped under our radar (e.g. - Grandpa's Pine Tar soap). No threads on anything "new" unless it harkens to old-fashioned sensibilities and ideals.

Do you know your hat size?

Post by Cleon » Wed Dec 31, 2014 9:00 pm

Do you?

Take a tailor's measuring tape (inches) and measure around your head at the place where your hat sweatband would rest. Don't pull too tight and don't keep it too loose.

Divide by π (3.14). That's your US hat size. It is safer to round up if you are between sizes. I'm a 7 1/4 but can wear a 7 3/8 without it wiggling around. I am also a long oval. I have an egg head.

I object to your bigoted and discriminatory poll and its lack of inclusiveness. :x

Can't spend a career in the military and not know your hat size.

no.

You might as well have used "other" instead of using >7 3/4. At least most hat web pages end at 8,

Depending upon the hat, I wear a 7 7/8 or an 8. I have never seen a 7 15/16 available.

The struggle continues...

This thread reminds me of "Check Point Big Head".

When departing the vicinity of Baghdad International Airport on this skinny little road to hit the main MSR to Abu Ghraib, there were these kids who lived on this skinny country road that would come running out toward the convoy hoping to get candy or a soccer ball or such thrown at them. The ring leader must have had hydro cephalus or something similar. He had this huge head on top of this littly body. It seemed like his head made up 1/3 of his height. Didn't take the guys running convoy security long to name that place Check Point Big Head. You'd hear on the radio, "passing Check Point Big Head" or just "Check Point Big Head".

My Beret is a 7 1/4 my UNC hat is a large flex fit. I am assuming a 7.25 would be for most hats.

I've always worn a 7 3/4. Using the technique above, it comes out to 7 3/4.
Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isaiah 55:6,7 ESV

It's the 'diameter' of your head. It unnecessarily complicates things, imo. There must be a reason for it.

If you get a hat from Europe or most other places the size is a direct circumference in centimeters.

I wear an Akubra.

The Aussies have their own measurements.

I know my Akubra size.

Buzz cut 7 5/8, hair 7 3/4. My graduation cap in high school was a size J for Jumbo. Made it easy to find it after everyone threw them up in the air.

My favorite hat is an Akubra. Size 58 cm. Fits like a glove after a few days of break in. I've worn it almost daily since the end of October.

It's a green-grey that I didn't think I'd like that much but it looks good with just about everything.

The glory of God is the nature of God - that God is good.He is unfailingly good.He never changes,He will always be good.God has called us to do what we cannot do,only He can do it.He has called us to live in His faithfulness,He has called us to live in His consistency, that He will come and do all the things that need to be done.

The chief end of Man is to worship God.
