An OFG Kitchen Knife

Post about everything from carrying a handkerchief to manly skills (sharpening a pocket knife, etc.) to product reviews of items that may have slipped under our radar (e.g. - Grandpa's Pine Tar soap). No threads on anything "new" unless it harkens to old-fashioned sensibilities and ideals.

An OFG Kitchen Knife

Post by Jocose » Fri Oct 27, 2017 5:31 am

Looking for a no nonsense, quality kitchen knife?

Look no further than Dexter Russell "Sani-safe" line.

I've been using their 6" produce knife and paring knives for a very, very long time.

Super sharp and easy to resharpen due to the high carbon but stain resistant blade.

I've got an 8" Dexter chef knife coming from Amazon.

I challenge you to find a better quality kitchen knife for cheaper. You won't find one.

Do you shave with them?
I am also of the opinion that the Jesuits should be suppressed.

I suppose I could but I do not shave with these particular knives.

I will, on occasion, shave with whatever I may be carrying in my pocket. What I mean by shave is, to shave or trim the beard line.

Dexter-Russell are great knives. The restaurant in the hotel where I worked always had them; along w/ the family's other 12 regular restaurants.

Forschner by Victorinox are also a great value.

At home we have Cutco. Very good, but overpriced. We were helping out college age church folks.

We have Global knives. Very good blades, very stupid handles.

Walked into the kitchen and Mrs. JB was stabbing a huge brick of ice cubes with my favorite chef's knife. I asked her to stop. It hurt me. She said "oops."

We're still working with the walnut handle Chicago Cutlery made in USA and Lamsons that were wedding presents from 25 years ago.
We do have a Wusthof and I expect to getting another before too long especially as Lamsons aren't being stocked locally and Chicago ain't what they used to be.
In my camping kit there is a brace of Russell Green Rivers from about the same vintage. I love working with those Green Rivers.
