OFG Cleaning Products

Post about everything from carrying a handkerchief to manly skills (sharpening a pocket knife, etc.) to product reviews of items that may have slipped under our radar (e.g. - Grandpa's Pine Tar soap). No threads on anything "new" unless it harkens to old-fashioned sensibilities and ideals.

OFG Cleaning Products

Post by Jocose » Fri Mar 16, 2018 9:33 pm

ONE WORD:

The ORIGINAL Pine-sol with 8.7% Pine oil.

Not available in stores anymore. You now have to buy it from the Pine-Sol website with a six bottle minimum and maximum.

Apparently the original formula with Pine oil is too pricey to have available in stores.

Cleans and disinfects like nobody's business.

Luron is powdered hand soap the National Park Service supplied in their public lavatories in the 1950's. Unavoidable in the National Parks.
Skiddoo Dirt was made by Floyd Clymer in Berthoud, Colorado in the 1920's, a mixture of Castile soap and, I think oatmeal? I could be wrong about the oatmeal, maybe it was sawdust?

Well, you're a fountain of information I don't care about, aren't you?

How and why do you know about 1920's era soap manufacturers?

I read about Skidoo Dirt in one of Floyd Clymer's stories about growning up in Berthoud, Colorado and that stuck in my memory. He used a milling machine driven off one of the rear wheels of a jacked up Model T Ford. Cool, huh?

If you're a peasant, I suppose. Frankly, though, in 2018 I'd think even the serfs had a better idea of how to grind corn, if such a necessity presented itself.

Honestly, Hov, you seem to embrace stupid work as if it's inherently noble, and stupud things as if they lead to wisdom. I wonder how Ataturk missed you.

Not as much as the fellow in a world of hurt that wants prayers from the men he feels better than. That's stupid on a level I can't understand.

If you're trying to make a funny, I dont get it. If you're saying that I don't take care of my kids, I don't get it. If you're saying that I haven't been to hell and back dealing with and helping my kids, I don't get it. If you're upset that I ask for prayer for my kids here on CPS, I'm not sure why that upsets you.

If this thread mysteriously disappears, I don't get it.

I'm trying not to get upset.

Feel free to call, text or PM me if I've somehow caused a problem.

If I don't pick up or respond right away, I may be working or sleeping, due to my on call work schedule.
