Before CPS, I thought all Protestants looked like the Monster Energy Drink Woman (well, frankly, a lot of them have that haircut, but you know what I mean). I'm so glad this place is here to tell me you all think they're nuts, too.

No, your desire to look like John Calvin is an effective early warning system. It sets my Catholosenses tingling.

I searched YouTube for "rapture September 2017." There are about 11 zillion videos confirming September 23rd as the "guaranteed" date for the rapture: people telling about their dreams, sermons, videos with special effects, videos with genuine robot voices, Dispensational charting, stars aligning, Rosh Hashanahing, goats destroying, etc. That many people can't be wrong, via the argumentum ad populum.

September 23rd's Rapture Index is clearly 100%.

Don't be left behind.

And don't dare waste your last hours posting crap on some pipe forum.

What time? I have an appointment. I need to know if I should cancel it. It would be rude to not show up.

Come to think of it, I'm golfing with the wife, so the 23d really cannot get worse.

There was a misprint in the first addition. It was September 23rd, 70 A.D.

Notions of The Rapture (as a "pre-trib" or "mid-trib" event) are still mostly an American Evangelical thing. Most of the world's Christians are not familiar with the concept.

But the stars lining up this autumn have captured the attention of other religious traditions. It happens... At Fatima, Mary prophesied a light in the sky to warn when the chastisements would begin, if we did not repent and make reparations. The famous aurora borealis of Jan. 1938 was that sign.

My own pastor is noting it, along with the 100th anniversary of Mary's apparitions at Fatima, without any specific prophecies. He does suggest that we could be in for some tremendous graces -- or some more horrible chastisements. So we are doubling-down with a 54-Day novena and praying for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

A visiting priest gave a powerful talk to our diocese last week.... He is tying the events in the stars with the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther's protest. This preacher noted that as the countries of northern Europe were rebelling against the Church, Mary appeared at Guadalupe, Mexico, in 1531.... which resulted in the conversion of 8 million souls over the next decade, throughout Central and South America. The greatest missionary work in human history!

So this priest encouraged us to pray for another great Apparition of Mary, seeking another great conversion of continents. We should pray for an Apparition of Mary, with another great miracle like Her sign at Fatima.... at someplace like the Grand Mosque of Mecca.

There really isn't much in the Bible to base any kind of a belief in a rapture. The term does not even appear in the Bible, anywhere. But there is a lot of reference to resurrection.
