I wear them nearly everyday outside of work or some other occasion that require better attire. When I get home from work, I put them on. I'm a gun dog trainer nearly every day now. The cargo pockets hold check cords, fetch toys, electronic collars, transmitters and treats for our walks and training sessions. Don't leave out the cargo pants! They're good too, as are overalls and carpenter jeans.

It seems like they were popular sometime around the mid-80's, at about the time parachute pants (the cargo short predecessor?) were popular. You could put a house key or maybe a $10 bill in them, but not much more.
