A friend of mine here locally sent this pic to me just this afternoon. Said he had some sugar water set out for his bees, and they were "happy little dudes" today.

My father-in-law has two hives(4 boxes). Every once in a while I have to go out and help him set-up and tear down. It's a semi-small operation with zero profit because we use it for personal or give it to family. That may change this next coming season. We are going to buy 100 new screens for this year and we have 10 screens per box.

I will put a couple jars back but I will use the rest to make mead. This will be my first attempt at mead and I am going to get help from Tuttle and our dad. I would definitely appreciate mead tips from any of you who have made it before.

One last thing. I am going to have anywhere from 10-15 lbs of bees wax left over. Does anyone have tips on how to extract the remaining honey from the wax and what can I do with the remaining wax? Is it valuable?

Why don't you just mind your own beeswax.

Most of the bees around here are feral, and Africanized. Nasty buggers.

Never mind everyone. I just thought of a great idea for all the beeswax and it doesn't require all the hard work of extracting the sticky honey. Sleep with one eye open brother.

Good luck with your venture. My dad kept bees, and I'm trying to remember how he processed the wax. I do remember him using paper towel tubes as molds, and there was always a tube of wax in his shop, for various purposes. He also made a few unique candles for my mom, for use at Christmas time.

Right? It's so majestically derpy, it just might be his finest work.

OP: Is anyone a beekeeper? I have a specific question.

Goose: I know what bees is.

Have you all seen this!?

I've been wanting to get bees for a couple years now. I'm saving up for a FlowHive which is why I haven't already started. I was hoping to get started this spring but it's not looking good financially. Maybe next spring.
That's cool.
