Really touching to see older people acknowledge that things can be hard for younger people. As a younger person it gets tiresome hearing older people talk about how lazy we are or how much harder things were back in the day. What a nice video.
Well I'm older but you'll never hear me condemning the young people actually I think we left the world in worse shape than we found it.

I always hold the door open for younger people. Hopefully it will help them get going, get on their way to work, and keep paying in to Social Security. I'll show them how to tie their tie, and wipe lint off their jacket too.

In my opinion the concept of "magis" as expressed in the video is closely related to the Reformation doctrine of "Soli Deo Gloria".

For example, this is the first catechism QA we teach our kids:
Q: What is the chief end of man?
A: Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever.
According to the guys in the video the word "magis" literally means "more", but should more accurately be interpreted as "quality". They go on about using it in conjunction with the Jesuit motto of A.M.D.G., meaning "For the Greater Glory of God" -to live lives and do everything that you do to the greater glory of God. This may mean cutting things out, and concentrating on doing this better. Quality over quantity.

I can get on board with that. I wish contemporary evangelical Christian artists would get on board too.

4 years of Jesuit education and never heard the term "magis" (Don't even recall it coming up as word in my 4 years of Latin)

I told my wife about this and she had not heard of it either. She has been learning Latin over the last few years using some curriculum from Memoria Press.

My understanding is that magis is a comparative. So "Doing the magis" is modern Latin slang for for what I'd translate as "Do better".
