Well dang. We got the wind and thunder but no rain.

I found the rain gauge in the garage and set it out two weeks ago. Hasn't rained since.

Cool and rainy.
Not as much rain as originally forecast, but still a nice change.

Due to remnants of an eastern Pacific hurricane We had 20 degrees below normal totally cloudy weather on Friday followed by a heavy overcast Saturday morning. This morning, Sunday, it is sunny again yet cool and breezy. Very very unusual weather for mid to late June. Never seen anything like it before in Arizona's Sonoran Desert.

It was 113 F at my house yesterday. Even the birds were panting.

I was surprised when I read that Uncle Bob had a high of 113 in Lubbock, TX the other day, when we here in the Sonoran Desert have not yet surpassed 105. According to this map I found on WeatherUnderground, only a very small part of the U.S. sees its warmest temperatures occurring during the month of June, and if my geography is right, Lubbock is right in that small part.

It's been quite a moderate June as far as temperatures. It feels quite nice this morning. Almost cool. Today a high of "only" 98 and to close out June tomorrow, overnight lows in the 60s and a high of only 96. But one day next week, Friday, it's forecast to be 111 F 8O Anything over that and it just makes no difference.

Spectacular day for the end of June. Wonderfully cool this morning on my bike ride. Only a high of 95 today. Believe me when I say this is extraordinary for the southern deserts of Arizona this time of year.

A Facebook memory just showed me that 9 years ago tonight we were in Phoenix for the evening on our way to our honeymoon and that it was 40°c/104°f at 7 p.m.

That was the second hottest temp I'd ever experienced.

I you probably flew out of there early the next day because flights are grounded when it reaches 115

Here, today, up early to do some watering and bicycle over to the Post Office with a package when they open. Thursday and Friday here are forecast to be 110. We're about 1000 feet higher here than Phoenix. They will have 112-114. But there is little difference between 110 % 114. Its just H O T.

But it's a dry heat.
