I had to turn the heater on in the car when I drove down the mountain tonight. Of course I'd been standing in cold water with leaky waders for the previous three hours. Brrrr.

Yes, summer is waning and the shadows are getting longer quite quickly now. Each day about two minutes shorter than the one before.

Monsoon pulled back quite some time ago and never did reappear as forecast. N AZ, N NM, and S UT have storms but not here. No telling if it is done for the year or will return. Monsoon storms can come through September.

Feels nice and cool this early Monday morning. An overnight low of 72. Both Dew Point, 49 °F, and Humidity 33%, are down as well.

Last couple few days and evenings have been very dry. Not a cloud in the sky. But this morning's skies and also radar shows monsoon trying to reestablish itself. Next week's forecast highs are "only" around 95.

Hot. Almost record setting hot. And dry.

Reports are that it's at 150-200 acres, 25% contained. It's being reclassified as a type 3 incident so more crews should be coming in soon. The 'good news' is that part of the area it's headed for was burned in a yuge fire in 2012 so there's not as much fuel. It's also very near a reservoir so water is close at hand for the choppers. We thought we'd made it through the fire season. There's a voluntary evacuation of a dozen or so homes, one of which would be mine if I'd had another $200k to spend on a house a few months ago.

After a lot of gentle rain in July, we haven't had much precip at all here. But the forecast shows monsoon pushing back in here later next week. We shall see.

Hot for Durango this time of year - mid 80s all week, but nice and cool mornings, evenings and at night.
Leaves changing in the high country and on the hillside behind our house.

Monsoonal flow has returned and a chance of T Storms midweek. Dew Point is 60 °F at 12:30p, which is high. That's monsoon. But this mornings bike ride felt good. Broke a sweat but not overly so.

That's really warm with a lot of humidity I imagine.

Here, we're having one of those very rare overcast days w/ forecast scattered T Storms
