Today, sunny with a low of 52 and a high of 74. Winds but not as much as yesterday. Pretty gosh darn nice for late May.

Warm, windy, and dust. It is supposed to storm later.

The last couple of days have storms, tornadoes, and flash floods. I got caught in a flash flood Friday--not fun.

Jet Stream still right over the top of us. Its 8 am and 63f. About 10 degrees below normal, as it has been most of May. But the forecast shows gradual warming to normal by late this week.

There is a concern for CA. It's supposed to really get very warm and there's all that snowpack that really hasn't at all melted yet. In fact this month more snow has been added to it.

We had torrential rain yesterday. The street was full of water. Many local friends are complaining about water in basements. I am glad we put ceramic title in our basement, rather than carpet.

Waterlogged. Predicting more rain tonight and tomorrow. Read where Oklahoma is 400-600% above normal in rainfall. Add to that tornadoes and you should get a good picture of the last week or two.

Seems as if I’m wearing a target on my back. Almost tornado warning in my part of the state has been either a few miles north or south of me, the last one was even closer.

The power went off a little after 1AM. About the time that happened I heard a storm spotter (on my handheld ham radio) state that he was seeing power flashes and he was going to have to move to a safer location. He was two miles due west of me. God had his hand on me because the twister lifted up before it got here. I’ve never heard the wind make noises like it did that night, even when I was volunteering as a storm spotter.
I like my pipes bent and my razors straight.

After another quite chilly night (53f) forecast shows a high-pressure ridge building and temps up about 15 degrees by weeks end.

It sure has been a month of May for the record books.

Over 20” of snow at the ski area last week.
Last night’s and today’s snow is not included in that total.

They were open for skiing over the Memorial Day weekend.

We had snow this morning, but it’s melted now.

Want to feel helpless?

Daughter #1 and 3 live in the Kansas City area. There's a YUGE tornado going through there right now. I'm watching their texts - one wants the other to come to her house in case they need to take shelter, the other wants to hunker down where she and her kiddo are at (no basement). I'm also watching this thing unfold on the internet. I know prayer is a powerful thing, but it sure seems insignificant when that's all I can do. Some days I wish we weren't so connected - I'd rather not know about this 'till it's over.

I'm pretty sure this whole mess is going to stay north of them, but man, it's worrisome. It's 'funny' that the older one freaks out over this stuff and the youngest is pretty chill.

EDIT - It just missed my best friends farm at Lawrence KS, but he says it hit some other friends places. Othicks house is gone. So is Hoovers barn.
