I love it. It is just right for summer and perfect out of the tin. I only have FVF to compare it with and think it better (and sweeter). I do not have a developed palate so I can't detect toppings or what have you but to me it is almost perfect.JohnnyMcPiperson wrote: ↑Mon Aug 06, 2018 2:35 pmHow is the CVAP?rgcurrey wrote:A tin of Wallace Flake and a tin of F&T Cut Virginia Plug.

Nice, I really like Blackjack as well as you said moisture is perfect and it smokes wonderfully, somehow I find it to be very smooth for a straight VA!rgcurrey wrote:I love it. Re: Last Tin Opened
Revisiting one of a few tins with a couple years of age. Am letting it "decant" for a week or so before enjoying it. They say this is a blend originating all the way back in 1848. Wowzer. 170 years ago.

Still easing my way into decanting a tin of 2 year aged Robert McConnell Scottish Flake. So many tobaccos. So little time

You said it. I counted my jars last night that I'm smoking through and have 40 open. I didn't realize it was that much!

I’ve gotten down to a system where I keep 18 blends in rotation at all times.

How's the work and how do you decide what goes into the rotation?JohnnyMcPiperson wrote: ↑Tue Aug 21, 2018 8:16 pmI’ve gotten down to a system where I keep 18 blends in rotation at all times.

Last Tin Opened
I have a gallon freezer ziplock with 18 little baggies of different blends, every time I finish one I replace it with something new, unless it came from an unfinished tin in which case it stays in rotation until the tin is empty. This way if I want to sample from a jar, I just take some out and put it in a baggie and seal it back up.ryland wrote:How's the work and how do you decide what goes into the rotation?JohnnyMcPiperson wrote: ↑Tue Aug 21, 2018 8:16 pmI’ve gotten down to a system where I keep 18 blends in rotation at all times.

Re: Last Tin Opened
Cracked a tin of this a few days ago and it is decanting in a 1/2 pint Kerr jar to retain moisture better than if left in the tin. I'll shake and pop the lid a couple more times and by weeks end smoke my 1st bowl from it. Only have 11 tins of this left in the cellar.

Two tins. McClelland Beacon Extra and McClelland Aurora. I have it. Might as well smoke it.

Re: Last Tin Opened
Well its grouse season and as is my tradition, I opened a fresh tin of Samuel Gawith Grousemoor at the end of the first hunt. It was a nice smoke, but I should have let the tobacco dry some...it was too wet and didn't want to stay lit. I will let it dry some before I smoke it again.

Pirate Kake. I have no idea why I thought a blend with 70% Latakia sounded good.

Re: Last Tin Opened
Nice and slow. Pirate Kake is a classic very smoky but a ton of flavor!

Opened an 8 oz tin of C&D English Chocolate the other day, had a pipeful and parceled it out to jars.
