I absolutely love the Billy Tea advert!
Good stuff.
Bonus points for the lead toward EphemeraSociety.org.AU -- gonna check it out.

Double bonus bonus points for identifying the pipesmoker as a swagman and thus leading me to dictionaryland and discovering such the rich wealth associated in and around the swagmen of Australia, of which heretofore I was totally unfamiliar with.

Thank you.

Adding to the Aussie theme,
here's a nice pic of a smoko...

Not entirely in the recent spirit of the thread, but here’s a pic Mrs Gabriel took last night of me working on guitar with my son. That’s the horn stemmed Ropp that I was mentioning the other day.

Yes. We lost two setters last fall. Heartbreaking, but with a happy ending.
Four of our five English setters have been Beltons so very much like this one (one was mostly black).

And except for the fact that the gentleman in this photo looks quite affable and distinguished, this might easily be a moment shared between me and one of my gun dogs.

Quite often, I hunted the woods near home alone with one or two of my dogs. Precious times.

The photo puts a lump in my throat.

No pipe in this photo, but you get the idea:

That was Deb’s Whizbang Freckles, aka Freckles. Son of Tekoa Mountain Jake and Whizbang Dolly.
A helluva hunter, and a loyal friend.

The lump in my throat just got bigger.

Yeah, it got kinda misty over here for a minute. I've said before and I earnestly believe that, should my wife be right and I am wrong, I want to come back as a good man's gun dog. Your dogs have enjoyed a heaven on earth granted to few of us humans.
