Forgot where this was in Colorado. Those lavender colored flowers are Columbine. 4 x 5 inch large format Fuji Velvia transparency film.

I love the photo, Goose, and have tried to place it but can’t with certainty.
Is it possible it was taken in the Flattops in northwestern Colorado?

Could be Yankee Boy Basin. Above Auray (sp?)?

I thought of that as a possibility. Yankee Boy Basin is famous for its profusion of alpine flowers.

It’s spelled Ouray (and pronounced Yoo-Ray’), after the Ute Chief who negotiated with the Russian-Jewish toll road and railroad builder, Otto Mears, who made it possible for the San Juan region’s mines to be developed.

If so, that’s the southern slope of the Sneffels Range, and I can now see the likeness. I’ve hiked and climbed in there quite a bit. The range is more distinctive and identifiable from the north - seen from near Ridgeway or Montrose. I know that Bloodhound knows the area well.

Thanks. Here's another made today. I can't tell if this is an adult European Collared Dove, or a baby inside my semi dwarf grapefruit tree. Its hard to believe it is a baby because I was just in there not long ago picking and saw no sign of them. They're using the same nest they built years ago.

I proposed to my wife just down the trail, near the beaver dams. She kept me waiting for an answer till we got back to the truck. Beautiful picture Goose

That must have been a long walk back to the truck.

Not my best, but just a generic nature photo, apparently a screech owl is nesting in the utility pole behind my house.

Better watch the use of the word "shot", or teen-e-boppers visiting here, might start a protest march, to take away the "gun" Goose used to take that photo! :)

That must be an spine chilling sound in the middle of the night, huh?

Anyone see the movie, My Cousin Vinny? You'd remember the scene of his being awoken by a Screech Owl

I like owls, actually. Especially their sounds. When in the woods or field and I hear something I can't readily identify, I always say to myself, "it's an owl".

This was taken on a construction site in Seattle. It’s my favorite picture I’ve taken.
