Some writing...

Post by JMG » Sat Apr 28, 2018 9:48 pm

I had to write a very short article for a supporting church's newsletter. I bet they probably wanted a family update, but for some reason when I sat down to type, this is what came out. Anyway...I guess I'm putting it here just to read later when I need a reminder of certain things.

I once sat with a couple Hewa men watching ants crawl on the ground. Shortly before this we had witnessed the death of a friend who died of a heart attack. It was very sudden and was over very quickly. As we sat above the ants I began to tell the two guys that I bet that it’s a bit like this for God. They both looked at me a little bewildered. Then I explained that from where we sat we could see all the ants there…what they were doing, where they were, what laid ahead of them, etc. But for the ants themselves, all they knew was what was right there by them. They didn’t know what was going on 8 feet down the line…there was no way they could. “We’re like the ants,” I said. “We can only see and know so much. But God is higher than us and He sees and knows it all.” At that moment, mourning the loss of my friend, talking about ants, a few tears fell to the ground and disrupted their trail. God saw my tears…and He saw those ants. He cared about all of it.

Great stuff. Keep it up.

While we should continue to seek to know and glorify God more in all the traditional ways, maintaining an openness to see and share God in all that surrounds us has to be especially pleasing to Him. This challenges and encourages me.

Nice, JM. I was blessed to read it.

Well noted and touching. I appreciate it.

Seems inspired. I've heard ant analogies of various forms over the years. Billy Graham sometimes used one. But your ants were present in a timely place and moment, and the Spirit spoke to you and you listened, and did well to write about it.
