Goodbye McClelland ;-/ Hello, G.L. Pease!

Post by Goose55 » Wed May 09, 2018 8:51 pm

In the past month I had been revisiting some of the G.L. Pease Fog City Selection that our dearly departed Rusty had told me about back in the fall of 2016. At that time I was very happy with McClelland blends and only smoked a tin each of Embarcadero, Fillmore, and Laurel Heights.

I just have to say that if anyone is experiencing withdrawal symptoms from the exodus of McClelland, they should give these tobaccos a try because they are absolutely fantastic.

It shall the smoke of my morning drive.

I was recently gifted a sample of Embarcadero. It was the first time I had tried it...I think I could be happy smoking only that for quite a long time...it is very nice!

Another great VA blend company is Rattrays. Their Hal O Wynd, Black Virginia, Old Gowerie and Marlin Flake are all very good tangy Virginias.

I have not tried any of the Fog City collection blends. I may need to do something about that.

Good call on the Rattrays. I had only smoked their Red Rapparee until this weekend when JMG offered me a pipeful of Old Gowerie. That’s some good, solid VA.

JMGs tin of OG came at a price. Good smoke.

Last evening I enjoyed a bowl of another blend from GLP's Fog City Selection, Uni-on Square, a straight Red Virginia.

Recently cracked a tin of GLP Laurel Heights and it's good, too. Finely cut ribbon/ shag ....

Still have two tins in the "cellar" of the GLP Fog City Selection I've never tried, Montgomery and Telegraph Hill. And, the 2nd tin of Uni-on Square.
