Need a replacement charcoal grill

Post by Hovannes » Mon Sep 10, 2018 9:31 pm

I guess they don't make Char Broils like they used to. Something broke on the maiden voyage and it's been having a hard time of it ever since.
I admit I'm hard on the equipment as I grill almost every night we have something grill-able.
There is something about fire.

Anyway I need a replacement as the Char Broil, or what was left of it, left with the neighborhood pick up.
I'm considering this Nexgrill.

or another Char Briol

My reservation is that the cast iron grates are porcelain coated and I've never cooked on porcelain coated cast iron before.
Your thoughts? Cautions? Suggestions?

Old Smokey charcoal grill.

Over the past 40 years this is all I've used, and I'm still on my 3rd one. It gets carried on hunting, camping, and both fresh and saltwater fishing trips. I've burned store bought charcoal, and I've burned all sorts of wood in it. And it also serves as a fire pit when grandkids want a campfire for smores, etc. Ashes are easily dumped into the garden or compost pile. And when the Smokey finally bites the dust and becomes unusable it gets buried into the compost pile or garden, itself.
I'm old but I'm happy. (Most of the time.)

Get a Pit Barrel Cooker. It doubles as a charcoal grill and a smoker!

That song made me smile. My late father could break anything while trying to fix it.

This, gentlemen, is what it feels like when doves cry.
Even though I can't smoke at this time, for some reason I like this place.
