Surgery and Recovery

Post by tuttle » Wed Sep 12, 2018 6:38 am

Hey all,

Many of you know my daughter has spina bifida and along with that comes a number of physical issues. You've prayed much for her in the past 8 years and I'm always appreciative and thankful to God for folks like you.

She had surgery on her spine in August and it was successful and her recovery has been good. But tomorrow she'll have another surgery, this time on her feet and will be in full leg casts for around 6 weeks afterwards, and then she'll have to do some heavy physical therapy to regain muscle and basically learn how to walk again. I can't recall right off hand, but I think this'll be surgery number 8.

We did virtually the same surgeries last year as we have done this year (spine and feet) and that's no fun for a kid. Tough on parents too. But we kind of know what to expect so that's good. It's a tough recovery.

This surgery is a little over 3 hours from home so that adds to it a bit. Pray for safety on the roads.

Anyway, please pray for little Arwen for both the surgery and the recovery. I'm not 100% sure how far this particular surgery will go in helping her ankles (which are getting weaker) but I'm hoping the doctors know what they're doing. The recovery is her biggest worry since she has to not walk for 6 weeks and be hauled around everywhere.

Thanks everyone.

Yessir. Prayers up right now for your daughter's ordeal and everything surrounding it. For a good outcome.

And praying for RNOL's parents, as well.

How are the child's spirits holding up? Is she fearful, going in to surgery? Or perhaps looking forward to more healing and strength after her recovery?
