O Lord hear our prayer. To all veterans thank you.

This, gentlemen, is what it feels like when doves cry.
Even though I can't smoke at this time, for some reason I like this place.

Tim (OldWorldSwine), posted this on FB this morning:

From Timothy Jones:

My friend James Therry said it well:

“Those who stand to defend hearth and home with their very bodies deserve the honor and esteem of their fellows. They also serve who wait, or carry clipboards, or sling chow, or stack pallets, or fix electronics, or mow grass, or load ammunition, or drive trucks. And their families serve too, in their own way, and that way is often hard. Thanks to all of you, from a grateful American.”

Captain, I know what you mean, I think, but still disagree thoroughly. There isnt an American that isnt worth fighting for, and even if there was, the concept of the United States certainly would be worth it anyway.

Then again, I've always hated Veterans Day and Memorial Day, so maybe I'm bizarre. Bunch of well-meaning goofs come up and thank you for your service, whatever the heck that means, and then spend the rest of the year not thinking twice about those men and women making beans for a tough job and thinking of them as too dumb to make it in the civilian world. I've always thought Kipling's Tommy should be required reading in our schools. If you want to thank a serviceman, just treat him like a human being in your thoughts and in your deeds.

You've given me one hell of a promotion, brother. I was but a looey.

None of what I said was directed at you, sir. I think I know what you mean and I agree there are some real jerks out there. No, I was just starting my own opinion that I'd fight for Bob AND tuttle, not Bob or tuttle; believe me, I know you would, too.
