Anyone into Chess endings?

The part of the church where the silliest things happen. Conversations that sound like they belong in the youth room will be moved here.

Anyone into Chess endings?

Post by Hovannes » Fri May 10, 2019 9:45 pm

I came across this on Fr Z's blog:

Alekhine v. Popvich, December 23, 1931.
The last move was Black Bishop to G6… check.
White to move.

(No, I won't spoil it for you!)
I haven't looked at any chess endings in quite awhile, but this one struck me as very cool! 8)

One of my hobbies is chess, running chess tournaments, president of the chess club, etc.

Appreciate you sharing this. That's a great tactical endgame.

Sweet move. I almost missed it.
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.

One of my sons and I have been getting into chess together.

Looks like that game was actually from 1930?

I completely missed it and would have fumbled the next move. Brilliant!
